How to renew resident permit in Portugal

According to official documents a temporary residence permit is only renewed to foreign citizens who:

• prove having means of subsistence
• prove having accommodation
• prove having complied with their tax and social security obligations, if applicable
• having not been convicted or sentenced to one year in prison, separately or cumulatively, even if, in case of conviction for an intentional crime as provided by the Law on foreigners or related thereof for a crime of terrorism, violent crime or particularly violent or highly organised crime, its enforcement has been suspended.

You need to collect some documents and apply them to IRN

Necessary documents

prove having means of subsistence

It's a bank statement.

prove having accommodation

It could be a rental contract or Certificate about fiscal address. In case of fiscal address you can go here portaldasfinancas.gov.pt and choose Domicílio Fiscal

prove having complied with their tax and social security obligations

You need 2 documents here:

1. Dívida e Não Dívida go to portaldasfinancas.gov.pt and choose Dívida e Não Dívida
2. Declaração from Segurança Social got to seg-social.pt and choose Obter nova declaração -> Ver declaração
